Business Development & Project Manager

The Role

We are seeking a Business Development and Project Manager  with a passion and desire to create great new products and services and get them to market. The role combines product development and commercialization, with client management, sales and project management. 

This role would suit a project manager or technical leader with experience in delivering end to end medical device development projects, that has an interest in entrepreneurship and a desire to expand their capabilities in delivering commercial outcomes  

The purpose of the role is to

  • Lead new product development projects and teams at IDE in the medical, consumer and technical product industries.

  • Manage relationships with IDE clients across the spectrum of start-ups, SMEs and large multinationals.

  • Identify and acquire new clients and opportunities for IDE

  • Lead multidisciplinary project teams to develop new products

  • Manage project teams to achieve required project deliverables and business outcomes.

  • Coaching and mentoring staff and continually improving the way IDE works to deliver enhanced project and business results.

 

Desired Skills and Experience

  • A degree in Mechanical, Mechatronics or Biomedical Engineering, Industrial Design or similar applicable technical discipline

  • Exceptional stakeholder management skills to develop good relationships with Clients, managing their expectations and needs to ensure Client satisfaction.

  • Minimum 2 years working in Medical device Sales

  • Driven professional with the desire to succeed and can-do attitude.

  • Ability to analyse market and maximize potential sales opportunities.

  • Results-driven sales professional who has consistently demonstrated excellent performance within the healthcare industry. Medical devices/consumables experience preferred

  • Tenacity and enthusiasm and the desire to truly get to know your customers.

  • Computer Skills (required): Microsoft Office suite (inc Powerpoint & Project), CAD software (Solidworks, Creo) (optional): Adobe suite, FEA software

  • 5 years’ experience working in product development as a designer or engineer developing new mechanical or electromechanical systems for mid to high volume manufacture. Including specifically, product development in the consumer product or medical device industries.

  • Experience in undertaking risk management and risk analysis activities, including Hazards Analysis and FMEA

  • Experience leading teams collaborating on design problems within a multi‐disciplinary R&D environment

  • Experience in or exposure to designing for manufacturing processes: injection moulding, sheet metal fabrication, compression moulding, elastomers, machining

  • Knowledge of prototyping techniques and technologies

  • Experience in or exposure to a quality approach to product development within ISO13485, ISO9001 or similar Quality Management Systems Experience collaborating on design problems within a multi‐disciplinary R&D environment

  • Ability to communicate an engineering approach from requirements through to execution

  • Experience leading projects designing products under design control processes, preferably to strict safety regulations and safety critical standards: e.g. Medical, Automotive, Defense, and Rail etc.

  • Experience and relationships in the product design community, particularly within the medical device and/or pharmaceutical industries would be preferred
